Child & Family is pleased to introduce a new every-other-year event! “Ophelia’s Wardrobe” benefits one of Child & Family’s innovative and successful programs, Ophelia Programs.  Ophelia’s Wardrobe links the young girls and women of the program with a fundraising event in true Ophelia fashion.  The event features the sale of vintage and gently used designer women’s, men’s and children’s fashions in a magical showcase in Newport.

As a critical component of the Child and Family’s mission of strengthening families and the communities in which they live, The Ophelia Programs represent an innovative and exciting approach to identifying and delivering services to troubled girls ages eleven to eighteen.  The programs bring girls together from diverse ethnic and economic backgrounds into a safe and supportive environment in order to explore the social, psychological, physiological and cultural issues which have a lifelong impact on their development.  These out-of-school programs identify and work with adolescent girls who are struggling with the many relational issues and self-destructive behaviors that teenage girls encounter during their development years.  The Ophelia Programs offer group and collaborative sessions which help build self esteem, develop social connections and provide appropriate adult female role models.  The goal of The Ophelia Programs is to empower at-risk girls to reach their fullest potential as strong, healthy and productive women as they move toward adulthood.
