Welcome to Child & Family (C&F), where we strengthen families, their members, and the communities in which they live. At Child & Family, we hold two core beliefs. That individuals and communities thrive when supported by strong families and that a community works best when it accepts responsibility for all of its members. These beliefs influence everything we do and have guided our growth since we first opened our doors in 1866. Today, Child & Family is the largest and most comprehensive social service provider in Newport County, and one of the largest in the State of Rhode Island. It is a center for community involvement - a place where people come together to give help, to receive help and to support the work of others.

For over 140 years Child & Family has been a key component of our community's well being, developing vital services and programs as the need arose. Today, that is truer than ever before. As we continue to provide important services and programs to so many who are in need, we have also looked to the future by constructing what will serve as the cornerstone of social services for Newport County. It is a village of Community Services. When visitors arrive at the Child & Family Community Center, they enter a facility designed like a village in miniature: rooms where services are provided and programs administered, or where community members can come together are all accessed from two central "streetscapes": one on each of two floors. These long spaces, paved in earth-toned tiles, traverse the building from one end to the other and culminate in community or conference rooms overlooking Easton's Pond. The Child & Family Community Center provides a home to support programs and a welcoming, user-friendly environment for the residents of Newport County and beyond.
